Hallo Philes, (english version below)

es hat ja leider etwas gedauert, ehe wir unserer Ankündigung nachkamen, ein Fantreffen zu veranstalten.
Wir haben es allerdings nicht vergessen und nun endlich einmal die Zeit gefunden, etwas konkreter zu werden. Unsere Zeit ist halt immer noch verdammt knapp, aber wir bemühen uns :-)

Die Prozedur gestaltet sich wie folgt:
 Zur Auswahl stehen erstmal pauschal München, Köln, Hamburg und Frankfurt/Main. Bis zum 09.04., 00:00 Uhr, habt Ihr die Möglichkeit hier Eure Städtevorschläge einzureichen. Ausgenommen ist lediglich Berlin, da dort die Con stattgefunden hat und wir anderen Städten ebenfalls eine Chance einräumen wollen. Von den genannten Städten picken wir uns die vier meistgenannten Kandidaten raus, unter denen es die Endabstimmung geben wird. Das könnt Ihr dann ab dem ca. 11.04. bis 17.04., 00:00 Uhr, abstimmen. Der Sieger steht dann bis 24.04. fest.

 Für den Zeitpunkt des Treffens haben wir ein WE im August angepeilt. Dann sollte es noch schön warm und die Haupturlaubsphase rum sein.

 Geplant ist derzeit in der auserwählten Stadt dann eine Sightseeing-Tour zu machen, ein Kino anzumieten und beide Filme zu schauen, sowie gemeinsam essen zu gehen.
Weitere Ideen sind willkommen und werden auch sicher folgen.

Der Anreisetag wäre z.B. ein Freitag, die Abreise am Sonntag, sodass wir den gesamten Samstag unterwegs sein können.
 Wählt die Stadt, die von uns 'heimgesucht' werden soll und am besten schreibt Ihr noch, wieso wir alle dort hinpilgern sollten. Vielleicht gibt es ja was ganz tolles, Lasergames mit Außerirdischen z.B. oder ein spaciges Restaurant. Wir freuen uns auf Eure Vorschläge zur Stadt und den Aktivitäten! Wenn Ihr Euch dann noch als Ansprechpartner für uns bereithaltet, umso besser.
 Alles weitere an Infos wo, was, wie, wer genau, wird dann entsprechend mitgeteilt.

 Selbstverständlich und auch wirklich sehr gerne gesehen sind auch Besucher aus dem Ausland. Ein entsprechendes Schreiben geht noch in Englisch auf das Social Network.

Fan Gathering
Hello Philes,

well, unfortunately it took a while until we could make our announcement come true, organizing a fan gathering.
However, we did not forget about it and have finally gotten some time to get more detailed on it. Our time is still pretty scarce, though we try :-)
The procedure is as follows:
The first cities to be chosen are fixed and are Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Frankfurt/Main. Until midnight on 9th April you have got the possibility to hand in your proposals (which can be any city within Germany! Not only the given ones. Except Berlin because we already organized the Con there and we'd like to give some other cities the chance to be chosen). Out of these proposals we pick four cities amongst which we announce those for the final election. You can vote then between (approx.) 11th April to 17th April, also midnight. The winner will be stated by 24th April.

The date of the gathering shall be some weekend in August. It should be rather warm then and the main vacation season is over, too.
So far it is planned to do a sightseeing tour at the chosen city, rent a cinema and watch both films as well as having meals together.
Further ideas are welcome and will surely also follow.

The arrival day would be a Friday, for example, departure day Sunday. That way we gonna have all Saturday for ourselves.
Choose a city (it must be a city in Germany though), which shall be the one and please also state, why we shall go there. Maybe there is something amazing like lasergames with aliens or quite an outer space restaurant. We are looking forward for your suggestions for cities and activities! If you also provide yourselves as contacts for the city chosen, the better.
Further info on where, what, how and who exactly, will be published accordingly.

Of course, and really very welcome, are visitors from abroad. This message represents the translation of the German original with slight amendments.

Dear Philes,

after abundantly consideration - and this decision wasn't easy for us - we have decided to not conduct an X-Con in 2010.

"Why", you might be wondering.

You may have noticed how long the evaluation of the past con takes and we are not even close to have finished.
In order to finance and conduct another con we would have had started yet with the planning phase. Yes, it takes at least one year to get everything started and to organize. Because the three of us (and also our supporters) had to cope the organization once again besides our actual jobs, it would mean a second year in a row with like no spare time. Furthermore, we will be even more busy in our jobs due to various reasons. Therefore, a reasonable planning would be hardly implementable which is the reason why we had to decide against the X-Con 2010.

Of course we take your suggestions and critics serious! And especially because of this we do not want to disappoint anyone by doing the next con unreasonably. We are deeply distressed that we had to make that decision and we would gladly do the con. However, above-mentioned reasons just force the opposite. In addition, there would be a tremenduous higher financial effort to make for guests and rooms which had to be - once again - prefinanced by a private person. The amount would be higher than the last time.

So, one thing affects the other. Therefore, we are asking for your understanding.

In order to cut the waiting time until a possible next con (and believe us, we continue to look for a solution to organize a second con), we would like to organize at least a Phile gathering in 2010.
Until now, we have thought about meeting in a city for a weekend or three days. The city will be chosen by election. We would commit a sightseeing tour, have a meal together and rent a cinema to watch both movies.

At least that is the rough plan.
We will be releasing further info on this on our various platforms some time soon.


Of course, Philes from abroad are hearty welcome as well!

We hope this gathering will ease you a bit for the cancellation. As already mentioned, it is tough for us as well.

Berlin, Germany. The first “X-Files“ Convention on German soil, the X-Con 2009, was a full success. On 17th and 18th October, more than 120 visitors came to the Hotel Mercure Berlin Tempelhof Airport to meet other “Philes" - as fans of the show call themselves - listen to interesting lectures and, of course, to meet guest star Dean Haglund in person. Some visitors came all the way from abroad, amongst others from Finland and South Africa.

Though the Convention also subserved a good cause: At the end, organizer Monika Kirchberger could hand over a cheque of € 585 to Sylvia Krocker of the Regional Group Berlin/Brandenburg of the Federal Association for Neurofibromatosis*. The money goes into a camp for children and teenagers. In that camp, the fallen ill kids - who also suffer from the disease in their daily life, e.g. by being avoided or been looked at in a strange way - have got the possibility along with other affected kids to spend a great time.

But what is the connection between “The X-Files“ and the donation to the Federal Association for Neurofibromatosis?

For more than 15 years, leading actress Gillian Anderson is active in Neurofibromatosis associations in the US and Great Britain. Aged 3, her brother Aaron was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 - a neurologic disease which is - until today - incurable and can deface the appearance by inner and outer tumors.

At the moment, talks are undergoing to set up another convention of this kind in 2010.

*Information Neurofibromatosis:
The term “Neurofibromatosis" (NF) summarizes all genetic diseases which lead to different symptomes and mutations. An estitamed figure of 40,000 affected individuals live in Germany. The spread of neurofibromatosis seems to be independent from ethnical background, geography or gender-based factors.
Characteristics and course of both types vary from patient to patient. It is not possible yet to prognose the course of the disease of the individual patient.

The X-Con -the first standalone X-Files convention on German soil - organized by X-Files fans from Germany which took place in Berlin from 17th to October 18th, 2009.

The event was held at the Hotel Mercure Berlin Tempelhof Airport. This convention is from philes for philes. You are invited to be creative whether if it's a Workshop, Fan Art, Costumes, Role Plays, etc. All events will be held in English as well.
